Step 1: Complete S.A.F.E. Guarding Youth Training

The first step to becoming a registered adult leader with Scouting America is completion of S.A.F.E. Guarding Youth Training (Youth Protection Training)

You can access the S.A.F.E. Guarding Youth Training (Youth Protection Training) online at the following link:

S.A.F.E. Guarding Youth training is Scouting's newest iteration of Youth Protection Training for Adults. The training is required for all registered adult leaders. Only registered adult leaders may participate in overnight events. At least two registered leaders are required at any Scouting event.

Choosing to serve as a registered adult leader helps our troop deliver a variety of program for our Scouts.

Step 2: Register with Scouting America

After completing S.A.F.E. Guarding Youth training, you may register as an adult leader.

To register with one of our troops as an adult leader click on the button corresponding to the unit you are choosing.

If you have Scouts in multiple grade levels, you only need one application to be involved at every level.

Once your registration with one of our units (Pack 505, Troop 505, Troop 506) is approved, you may multiple register into the other units.

Volunteer Opportunities to Support our Scouts BSA Troops

After completing S.A.F.E. Guarding Youth training, you may register as an adult leader.

Once you complete the Scouting America registration and Youth Protection Training (YPT), you will be registered with our Unit as a "Scouter Reserve".

We are always in need of adult leaders to help manage the program. We have plenty of roles with varying degrees of commitment:

Where to start?
A great way to start as a volunteer is to simply attend our monthly committee meetings whenever you can. This will allow you to observe some of the dynamics involved in running the unit.

Merely being a registered leader is helpful as we need at least two registered leaders for all events.
